GOLDilocks – 2 year old Provision
“Play is the highest form of research” Albert Einstein
Welcome to our Goldilocks page!
We are very lucky to have the capacity to cater for two-year-old children here at Goldsmith. The children in Goldilocks join us at the age of two and stay in our room until they are ready to move into Nursery the term after they turn three. Children and their play is at the heart of what we do in the Goldilocks room.
In Goldilocks we follow the EYFS framework and plan against the ‘Development Matters’ document. We focus the children’s learning around the 3 Prime Areas of the curriculum (Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development and Communication and Language). We plan for children to have experiences both indoor and outdoor and we provide opportunities for parents and carers to come in and share these experiences and opportunities too through ‘come in and join in’ sessions and parent workshops.
We are very lucky in our Goldilocks rooms to have four excellent members of staff who work with our children; Miss Angela who is our Room Leader, Miss Hayley and Miss Courtnea who are our Early Years Practitioners and Miss Bev who is our Play Worker. Each child is assigned to a member of staff, their key worker, who will monitor, assess and plan for their children.

Our first week in Goldilocks
During our first week in Goldilocks we have been very busy! We have been exploring our new environment and building relationships with our new friends. We have had lots of fun activities to take part in both indoors and out.
Me and My Family!
This week in Goldilocks we have been busy talking about ourselves and our families. We have looked at our special family books, drawn our own family pictures, played in the role play area making dinner, and looking after the baby’s. We have also helped to wash the dishes!
This week we have been learning all about our bodies and what they can do. We have played with the outdoor equipment, we have used our hands and feet to make paint marks on the paper and have moved our bodies along to the music.
This week we have been learning all about “The Stick Man.” We have been to the forest to find the stick man and have collected natural items to explore in our sensory tray. We used branches and leaves to make paint marks on the paper. We have counted the stick man pictures and have spoken about which one is big and which one is small.
Goldilocks have been learning all about different celebrations. We have looked at Bonfire night, Diwali, Remembrance day and Children in need.
Christmas in Goldilocks
We have been very busy in Goldilocks this December! We have had lots of fun celebrating all things Christmas.
We had lots of fun with Jo Jingles at our Christmas Party!
