GOLDilocks – 2 year old Provision

“Play is the highest form of research” Albert Einstein

Welcome to our Goldilocks page!

We are very lucky to have the capacity to cater for two-year-old children here at Goldsmith. The children in Goldilocks join us at the age of two and stay in our room until they are ready to move into Nursery the term after they turn three. Children and their play is at the heart of what we do in the Goldilocks room.

In Goldilocks we follow the EYFS framework and plan against the ‘Development Matters’ document. We focus the children’s learning around the 3 Prime Areas of the curriculum (Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development and Communication and Language). We plan for children to have experiences both indoor and outdoor and we provide opportunities for parents and carers to come in and share these experiences and opportunities too through ‘come in and join in’ sessions and parent workshops.

We are very lucky in our Goldilocks rooms to have four excellent members of staff who work with our children; Miss Angela who is our Room Leader,  Miss Hayley and Miss Courtnea who are our Early Years Practitioners and Miss Bev who is our Play Worker. Each child is assigned to a member of staff, their key worker, who will monitor, assess and plan for their children.

Meet the Goldilocks Staff!

Miss Angela has been the Goldilocks Room Leader at Goldsmith Primary Academy for almost 5 years. Prior to this she worked as deputy manager of a day nursery for more than 20 years. Miss Angela enjoys spending quality family time with her husband and two young children, in particular they enjoy visiting the beach where they love to investigate the rock pools! Some of Miss Angela’s hobbies include knitting, cross stitch, up-cycling, swimming, cooking and gardening. She is also a keen animal enthusiast and enjoys caring for her family pets.

Miss Bev has been a Play Worker in the Early Years at Goldsmith for 20 years! She is shared between Nursery and Goldilocks and is a familiar, friendly face to lots of past and present pupils and families of the school. Miss Bev enjoys playing darts, winning at bingo and she has a passion for tasty food! She also enjoys holidays with her friends when she is not working.

Goldilocks Remote learning –

During Lock-down the Goldilocks staff have created a YouTube channel for the children to interact with home learning. Each day the staff upload new activities and fun videos for the children to enjoy at home. Click here to take a look at our fun learning on YouTube.

Home Learning fun –

We have been getting up to lots of fun things during our time at home. We have been super creative!

Snow fun!

We had lots of fun in the snow! Our teachers set us some challenges to do in the snow.

We loved to watch the YouTube videos on the Goldilocks channel.

Look at all the fun jobs we have been doing! We have been super busy.

We made lots of different marks and coloured in our pictures. We also explored outside and looked at some books.
