GOLDilocks – 2 year old Provision

“Play is the highest form of research” Albert Einstein

Welcome to our Goldilocks page!

We are very lucky to have the capacity to cater for two year old children here at Goldsmith. The children in Goldilocks joins us at the age of two and stay in our room until they are ready to move into Nursery the term after they turn three. Children and their play is at the heart of what we do in the Goldilocks room.

In Goldilocks we follow the EYFS framework and plan against the ‘Development Matters’ document. We focus the children’s learning around the 3 Prime Areas of the curriculum (Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development and Communication and Language). We plan for Children to have experiences both indoor and outdoor and we provide opportunities for parents and carers to come in and share these experiences and opportunities too through ‘come in and join in’ sessions and parent workshops.

We are very lucky in our Goldilocks rooms to have four excellent members of staff who work with our children; Miss Angela who is our Room Leader, Miss Keelli, Miss Hayley and Miss Courtnea who are our Early Years Practitioners. Each child is assigned to a member of staff who will monitor, assess and plan for their children.

We follow and share the same topics as the children in Nursery and Reception. This year our topics are

Autumn 1- Animals

Autumn 2 – Festivals and Celebrations

Spring 1 – People and Communities

Spring 2 – Growth and Change

Summer 1 – Under the Sea

Summer 2 – Traditional Tales
