Goldsmith Primary Academy Awarded Good with Outstanding Features in Recent Ofsted

6th December 2022

Staff and students at Goldsmith Primary Academy in Walsall - part of the Windsor Academy Trust - are celebrating Ofsted success this week following a recent inspection at the school (2nd & 3rd November 2022).

The school, which received a ‘Requires Improvement’ rating at its last inspection in 2019, has achieved an overall rating of ‘Good’, and was commended for its ‘Outstanding’ ‘Leadership and Management’ and ‘Personal Development’ following a three-year journey of transformation.

Inspectors praised the school’s “inspirational leaders” and staff for their high expectations of all pupils. They recognised that “exceptional leadership has enabled the school to make significant improvements over time” and commented that the school’s curriculum “is ambitious and enables pupils to achieve well”.

The report highlighted that pupil’s personal development is also exceptional and that pupils say the school rules and values help them to become better people and give them a sense of belonging. Furthermore, it noted that pupils “behave consistently well, work cooperatively in class and care for each other in the playground.” As a result, “parents are overwhelmingly positive about the school” and “praise the warmth and approachability of staff.”

Head of School, Paul Ingles, said: “At Goldsmith Primary Academy, we believe in each and every one of our young people and our aim is to deliver the very best education for all. Not only have we been rated ‘Good’ overall, we’ve achieved ‘Outstanding’ in two key areas and I couldn’t be more proud of our staff and students.”

Leanne Bridgwood, Executive Headteacher, commented: “I am exceptionally proud that Goldsmith Primary Academy has been recognised for the high quality education it offers. Over the last three years, the school has thrived despite the additional challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. It is hugely rewarding to see Ofsted recognise both the hard work of our staff and the pride our pupils and parents have in our school.

“Our success is down to a partnership between students, staff, parents and carers, and the ongoing support provided by Windsor Academy Trust.  Our ethos of ‘Dream, Rise and Aspire’ is now embedded in every aspect of school life. We will continue to build on this success to help raise the aspirations of our young people and unlock their academic and personal potential.”

Matt Meckin, Director of Primary at Windsor Academy Trust, added: “This report recognises the hard work and dedication of staff and students at Goldsmith Primary Academy and reflects the collective strength of our family of schools. It’s great news for everyone at Goldsmith and the local community. I know that staff and students will continue to excel under the excellent leadership at the school.”
